New work on display! 02/06/2012

It's been a while, but I expected that when I started this blog. Updates will come as my time permits.
I hung new paintings at The Williamson Co. Association of Realtors today. This is a show/ Art Walk put on by the Art Council of Williamson Co. I'm looking forward to the Artist Reception, because I got to see several of the artist's works, and they look pretty good. I'm also having a Solo exhibition at Picture This on 5th in March. Looking forward to having even newer work in this space at the Arcade. I just hope the weather is good. The warmer weather we've had this Jan and Feb scares me a bit. Gotta go for now. thanks for reading my rambles!

Artist at work! 01/11/2012

It's about time. I think I'm ready to put my many thoughts on plywood, panel, paper, or whateverelse I can find around the studio. I've spent a long time thinking about this next body of work. I've created things along the way, played with different media, painted some things for charity, and done a few small commissions. Now it's time to work for me. I'll be working on 4-5 new pieces for a show coming up early Feburary. The clock is ticking and I gotta get busy. Stay tuned, especially on Facebook, because I'm thinking of teaching a small class on how to transfer ink on beeswax. Each student will leave with at least one "Heart" that they created themselves. Good Times!

It never ends! 11/22/2011

I love being an artist! I never bore from the constant struggle to find my place or purpose in being "Artist." I really do take it serious. My problem is focusing on one thing at a time. I love to get caught up in my surroundings. In my mind things converge, become one. I constantly think or envision my memories and my imagination communicating with my current experiences. As Artist, I'm also the Translator of this world in my head. I'm not sure I can make since of it, but maybe I can make it something of interest for others to experience.

Still searching! 11/11/2011

I think I have the answer to my question, an then something changes my way of thinking. I'm almost there. I think. Not that I'm in a hurry to be there. I'm just anxious to see what's next. I've been wishy washy on what my next work of art will be. I intend to create what I feel the most passionate about. It seems when I get inspired from another artist or from everyday life; it changes my thinking. Either way it looks like mixed media, memories, and my imagination will control the outcome of the body of work to come. It will just have to wait until I get through preparing for the holiday art shows. check back for updates on my current events.
Thank you for reading my ramblings.

Do you remember that place? 11/03/2011

This is what I wrote while trying to work through some ideas for a new series of work. Maybe it will make since once the work is complete, or not.
"Do you remember that place?"

Not the place on the map; the place just out of site. You know, over in the corner, or maybe in some inconspicuous spot on the ground, or just above your head.

It’s not an obvious place. Just an area you walked right by. Never noticing how beautiful it was. Maybe it was rusted, corroded, weathered or worn. That’s what makes it beautiful and gives it life.

I noticed that place! I actually look for it. Sometimes I find a new shiny place; full of vibrant colors and sharp edges. I try not to stare. I just look out of the side of my peripheral vision and try to imagine what kind of place it might be.

I remember that place! Everything was going on; my life happened, and that place just sat there quietly waiting for me to notice.

I remember that place! Maybe it doesn’t exist. Maybe it’s not even a place. Ether way I remember that place!

Time for a little get away! 10/26/2011

Sometimes it's good to get away and forget what you do and why you do it. Just got back from a camping trip. No phone, web, nothing but the great outdoors and family. It's nice to have the chance to hear your own thoughts. I try to spent quiet time in the studio, but it's not the same as being away from all the normal distractions. So now I'm back and feel a little more confident in what I want to do next. Maybe it will work. If not, oh well. I did what my heart told me to do. I have a few comissions to complete and then I'll be focusing on a combination of my wax process and acrylic paintings. If time allows, I'll also work on some small sculptures. I'll try and get back to this soon and keep you updated.

I'm thinking about things and how I'll share them! 10/15/2011

I've put this off for some time now, but I think it's time for me to write a few thoughts about my work. I'm not going to promise a very interesting blog, or that I'll be on here every day, but you can come by when you feel like it and see whats been on my mind. At least what I decide to share:-)
Lately I've been thinking most about what direction my work will go, what media I'll focus on, and the subjects of my new works. So far I'm thinking I need to focus on the things that I feel strongest. I'm not going to start making a political, religous, or any other social statement, but I will be digging deep to depict my inner thoughts and trying to translate them into my art. We'll see how that goes.
