There was an opening at Picture This on 5th, in the Arcade, and I was asked to show my work along with Stephen Graham (aka-Splinter Art). I haven't shown in the arcade in a while. It will be cool to see the reaction I get from my newer paintings, and my new garage creations like the one on the left. Both of these works are process oriented and colorful, but my paintings are much more structured. They have to be planned and then excited. My garage work (assemblages) are more open to change along the way. I scatter my media on the floor of the garage, or in boxes, and start putting pieces together and then reacting. I guess you could say that I'm creating collage with wood. I like my cycle of creating and I hope showing the two side by side makes for a good conversation. I hope to see you Saturday, 6-9pm. RLP
I'm in the transition of cleaning the studio and using some of the materials I've collected over the last few years. I'm noticing a cycle, where I work in the studio painting, then go to the garage and build, then do other projects away from my work, and then I clean the studio before going through the cycle again. The cleaning of the studio helps me clear my mind and figure out what my next move should be. I'll let you know what that move will be as soon as I figure it out. The studio is cleaner, but the garage is a mess. RLP
I haven't been very reliable on posting on my blog or Facebook lately. I blame it on Spring weather and all those Spring chores. Seems like every spring my list of things to do increases. I'm not complaining. I like getting outside and soaking in the Sun. I made sure and did some window washing this week also. I want to get as much of the Sun in my studio as possible when I'm hard at work. Nothing new to post from the studio. I've had plenty of other projects to keep me running. Did some stuff for The Dance Theatre of TN and working through ideas for the big project I mentioned last time. I'll be back soon enough with some new work. But for now, Enjoy Spring! RLP
My newest project is a big one. Might take mw away from some of my normal activities, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I'll post more details after I'm sure everything is good to go.
As for now, I'm busy with this new project, the Periscope project (Nashville Arts and Business Council), and I have classes scheduled for the months of April and May.
I'll be back soon with some updates. Thank you for checking in.
Life is Good! RLP!
