I've been up to my normal stuff here lately. Working in the studio as much as possible, submitting proposals for some cool new projects, preparing to go on a trip to do a little research and grab some new images for future paintings, and good ole family stuff. Life's good! It's funny how when we get close to Spring, the weather warms a little, and the Sun shines on our face, that we can have a dramatic improvement in our attitude. I love seeing the seasons change, but always look forward to Spring and Fall the most. You just can't beat the time of year were we are in-between the hot and cold, the cold and hot.
I have several great things coming this year. Some will happen in the next two months, and others later this fall. I'll go ahead and share a couple and then come back later and share more. One exciting project I have coming, hopefully this week, is a new mural. I've submitted a proposal and am waiting for the final paperwork to be completed. This is on the campus of my alma mater at the new VA office. I really wasn't looking to do a mural this spring, but when you get an opportunity for something this big, you do it. Of course, I'll be posting progress photos on my social media. Make sure to follow me to keep updated. I have links on the top right corner of my website.
So my next big thing will be a trip to the Grand Canyon. I'm looking at doing a series of paintings that reflect our National Parks. I've been to a few, but want to expand to some new and exciting places. Also, now that I have a better understanding of my media and how much I can push it, I want to capture new images of these place with that in mind. I'll be hiking into the Grand Canyon, rafting the Colorado, and then Helicopter out. I think this will be an awesome trip. To help document everything, I've went and gotten a GoPro camera. That will come in handy for my other projects also. I may play with the GoPro in the studio in the coming weeks so I am familiar with how it works.
Just a couple other things for now. In May I'll have another Solo Show at Jack Yacoubian Jewelers in Franklin, TN. Find more info on the events page. This is a great time for a show in TN. The weather is usually perfect and everyone loves walking around downtown Franklin on a nice warm night. I had a great time last year and expect this year to be even better. Also in May, the Nashville Collage Collective will have it's second Annual group show at Turnip Green Creative Re-Use. It will be the third Thursday. I'll get the info on my Events page as soon as I get all the details.
I'm going to get off here for now. I don't want to make this too long, and I want to make sure to have more content for later. Maybe I won't wait as long for the next post. I'll at least get back on here before I head West in mid April.
Talk to ya soon! RLP
Below is one of my last commissions. This is a scene from Radnor Lake, here in Nashville. The title is "A Pleasant Walk." It's 24x18, milk paint, ink transfer on beeswax.
