I'm noticing a pattern in my process as I go through these paintings. I'm getting more detailed, and I keep thinking of how these paintings would be in a much larger scale. I didn't plan on painting large in this manner, but I might, just because I think these compositions are so strong as smaller paintings. I like that I'm learning so much about transfer of colors and how different background colors make such a difference. Usually I'll plan the background for each composition, but this time I covered panels painted in several different colors and vibrancy. Because I'm using natural beeswax, which is opaque, I can't tell what color each panel is before I start painting on it. I guess that's a good thing. It keeps me from over thinking and I can focus on a strong selection of colors. Plus, I might get a combination I might not have ever tried before. Tomorrows another day in the studio. I'll see if I can surprise you with a cool new design.
